Mellow Yellow: Bandera Espanola

My first Mellow Yellow entry. This photo was taken from my mom’s garden. She has a huge garden with lots of flowers, her personal color explosion. And this yellow Bandera Espanola flower is one of my favorites. It’s a standout, right?

Chick Lit: Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella

I have this thing about chick lit. I devour them like mad. And you don’t need to wonder why coz they are light, feel good books. Usually.

I just finished a Sophie Kinsella book called Undomesticated Goddess and I reviewed it on my other blog. But I’ll be posting book blah blah’s here from now on. The most recent Kinsella book I’ve read is this: Remember Me?

Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella

Remember Me?starts when twenty-eight-year-old Lexi Smart wakes up in a London hospital, she’s in for a big surprise. Her teeth are perfect. Her body is toned. Her handbag is Vuitton. Having survived a car accident—in a Mercedes no less—Lexi has lost a big chunk of her memory, three years to be exact, and she’s about to find out just how much things have changed.

Somehow Lexi went from a twenty-five-year-old working girl to a corporate big shot with a sleek new loft, a personal assistant, a carb-free diet, and a set of glamorous new friends. And who is this gorgeous husband—who also happens to be a multimillionaire? With her mind still stuck three years in reverse, Lexi greets this brave new world determined to be the person she…well, seems to be. That is, until an adorably disheveled architect drops the biggest bombshell of all.

Suddenly Lexi is scrambling to catch her balance. Her new life, it turns out, comes complete with secrets, schemes, and intrigue. How on earth did all this happen? Will she ever remember? And what will happen when she does?

My rating:

I must admit to being initially skeptic and thought the idea of a heroine suffering from amnesia a bit overused and tired. Still, I was curious what Kinsella would add in to make the plot sizzle and interesting. She can be funny based on the previous novels I read and I wanted to see what funny predicaments the heroine would find herself in while trying to recover her memory.

And thankfully, I did take the risk of reading it. It’s not the best Kinsella book and if you’re just a beginner Kinsella reader, I would suggest picking up another book. This was just okay. I did find it amusing though, with a very clever, fast-paced narrative.

I did also manage to feel for the heroine coz yes! there are really times I do wish I could just wake up and my life would be perfect. Just like what happened to her. But alas! she did discover that her ‘perfect’ new life is far from being perfect.

Drama Watch: Shut Up Flower Boy Band

I love watching dramas. Some might find it lame, but I find it fun. You should try it too. One of my long running drama obsessions would be Korean dramas. They are light, visually appealing, and usually very funny. Not to mention they have plenty of good looking eye candy. Ha!

It’s actually rare to find dramas that are top notch in quality. And my viewing philosophy has evolved from being too picky to enjoying what I am watching, no matter how quirky or lame. Finding humor in everything I see. And believe me, you’ll have fun, lots of it.

And what am I watching right now? Shut Up: Flower Boy Band!

From the title and the posters, it seems like a drama not for a 30 year old + me, a mom at that. But I don’t really enjoy melodramas, so I gave this a shot after reading some recaps online and I don’t regret taking this up. It’s beyond awesome.

Shut Up! Flower Boy Band is about Eye Candy,  a six member underground rock band led by Byung Hee. When the group transfers into the prestigious Jungsang High School, they find their rival, Strawberry Fields. This is a story about the two rock bands and how they deal with friendship, relationships, and their passion for music.

I must admit to deciding to watch it because of the Lee Minki cameo role, but after a few episodes I was head over heels in love with each character, the superb plot and the way the story unfolds. While I initially thought this would be a sweet light, high school drama, it turned out to be much much more than that. It’s about finding yourself and chasing after dreams.

Shut Up! Flower Boy Band

A recommended watch. Someday soon, I might just do a detailed review or a pic recap of this one. If I get the time, that is. But do watch it, or read the detailed recaps on Dramabeans recap site.

Self-Confessed Drama Lover

Yes, I’m making a confession – I’m a drama lover! I was going to confess to being a drama addict but my lack of time just stops me from being an ‘addict’.Ha! Which is a good thing for me really. But really, I love watching dramas, particularly Asian dramas.

I’m partial to Korean and Japanese dramas, although sometimes I also watch Chinese and Taiwan dramas.

These days, I’m always busy so I rarely get to watch or marathon a drama, but whenever I need to relax a bit, I usually grab myself a copy of the latest drama I wanna watch or sometimes I also do re-watch dramas I have previously watched and liked.

Drama Lover Badge

So what started this drama watching obsession? A trip to Quiapo Manila! I went with hubby and while he was browsing for DVD’s I chanced upon some DVD’s of dramas and the seller was convincing enough that I bought a few and watched them. The first drama I watched was Delightful Girl Choon Hyang from the famous drama writing duo, the Hong Sisters. And from then on, there was no looking back.

Delightful Girl Choon Hyang

I have watched lots and lots of dramas already and I have actually lost count already. And a year or so from K-drama I have ventured into watching Taiwanese dramas as well as J-doramas.

And here I’ll be sharing about dramas I have watched and I am watching, my thoughts on each and if (the big IF) I can spare the time, I would also like to do recaps. Even of old dramas. So do stay tuned, and if you share my obsession with dramas, I would really be glad to hear from you. Comment away!

PS. See I’m totally obsessed. I made that ‘drama lover’ badge. In case anyone wants it, just grab it. But credit would be nice.

Just Hello!

My first post. And I’m quite excited about this blog. Mainly because I’m allowing myself to go with the flow with this blog.

Here, I’ll be posting about different things I obsess on, but mainly: Books, Dramas, Music, Movies and Blog Memes (ok, mostly photo memes)..

These are some of the things I love doing and I’m secretly (well, not so secret anymore…) passionate about. My downtime activities.

I’ll be writing a lot about books – romance, chicklit and thrillers are my favorite genres. So this will be my main topic since I devour books at the same rate I devour chocolates. Lol. I also love watching movies, so this will be featured as well. Another thing I love to do (when I have time that is) is to marathon Asian dramas. A guilty pleasure for me, and I’ll be talking about dramas I have watched or will watch.

And I do enjoy music a lot so watch this space for some blurbs about music too.

Lastly, I love joining web memes, and I’m particularly fond of photo memes so I’ll be practicing my amateur photo skills and posting the end results here..

I know I don’t have much here yet on this site, but do check me out from time to time..
